Add to cart and orders now count on 3D product pages

The Analytics page of every embed now counts add-to-cart, including a click on your theme's own Add to cart button when the 3D view is on the page, and shows the Shopify orders that embed sold with the revenue of those lines. Before, add-to-cart read zero on every embed and orders were not linked to the page that showed the ring.

What changed

Each embed's Analytics page shows views, configurations, try-ons and quotes. Two numbers were missing: Add to cart read zero on every embed, and nothing tied a Shopify order back to the 3D product page that showed the ring. Both are now counted.

Add to cart from your theme's button

On a product page, shoppers add to cart with your theme's own button, not one inside the 3D view. When the 3D view is on the page, the theme snippet passes that click to the embed, which counts it in the same shopper session as their views and configurations. The snippet also writes two hidden properties on the cart line, _3jd_embed and _3jd_session. The embeds guide has the details.

Orders and revenue

With your store connected through the Shopify app, each order whose lines carry those properties shows under Orders, with the amount of the lines that embed sold rather than the whole order. Orders that only carry the View in 3D link are matched from that link. The Shopify guide covers connecting your store.

Why it matters

Views and configurations show interest; orders show sales. With both on one page, you can see which product pages with 3D sell, and compare them with the ones without. The 3D viewer and AR try-on for Shopify use case shows the setup on a live store.

Questions

Do shoppers see anything new?

No. The cart line carries two hidden properties that name the embed and the shopper's session. Shoppers do not see them; your order admin does.

Do older orders count?

Orders whose lines already carry the View in 3D link are matched from that link. Orders with no link to an embed are not counted.
