3DM viewer: open a Rhino file online
Drop a Rhino .3dm file and it opens in your browser, rendered with real metal and stone materials rather than CAD shading. The viewer reads the file's own units, leaves hidden objects and layers out, and lists every part with its layer and whether it was recognised as metal or stone. You do not need Rhino installed, and the file is not uploaded.

What a 3DM file carries
A .3dm is Rhino's native format. Besides the surfaces of the model it stores the units it was drawn in, its layers and which objects are hidden. The viewer uses all three: the piece is shown at its true scale, hidden objects stay hidden, and the parts list shows each object's layer so you can find the band, the head and the stones.
From viewing to weighing
The same file can be weighed. The metal weight calculator reads the units saved in the .3dm, so a ring drawn in millimetres, centimetres or inches is weighed at its real size.
Questions
Why does my 3DM file show little or nothing?
A file saved with Save Small has its render meshes stripped, and those meshes are what a browser draws. Save the file normally from Rhino and open it again.
Do I need Rhino to open a 3DM file?
No. The file is read in the browser with Rhino's own open file library, so anyone you send it to can look at it without a licence.
